They say wisdom comes with age and it certainly seems to be true. Not that I consider myself to be all that wise, but I have certainly figured a few things out. I’m sure most of you would say the same. It’s so much easier to look back upon all the things you’ve said and done and imagine how you would do it differently, if you had it to do over.
I think one of the big things that you learn as you age, is that you just don’t need all that pride! We’re just so sure of ourselves when we are younger and maybe some of us remain sure of ourselves until fairly late in life. But at some point, hopefully, you realize that just because you’re right, doesn’t mean somebody else is wrong. There are often many ways to do the same thing. That realization brings about so much peace.
The thing is, you have to live life in order to learn, and thereby gain wisdom; so we can’t really live life “backwards.” But it sure would be nice to have this wisdom first, in order to live better, earlier. I guess that’s why it is said that you should listen to your parents and learn from your grandparents. But when we’re young, we’re too busy thinking we know everything to actually listen to their advice.
